Environment

EnvironmentIn the words of our parent company, Imtech NV, equally applicable to Peek:

“Imtech assumes responsibility for the consequences of its activities and decisions for people, the environment and society, and is prepared to give account”

To manage and reduce our impact on the environment, Peek has successfully implemented a number of environmental innovations throughout our organisation. Developing the methods, processes and systems employed to deliver the desired outcomes; all under our ISO 14001:2004 certification. We regard all of our environmental innovations as a step in a continuous improvement cycle and they are subject to regular senior level reviews to ensure that they are not only delivering the expected outcomes but that we constantly review and challenge the underpinning assumptions upon which they are based.

Areas of key significance include waste management, energy use, and carbon emissions. We are members of a number of voluntary sustainable groups to help promote best practice. These include the Hampshire Sustainable Business Partnership, WRAP, the Carbon Disclosure Project and the Highways Maintenance Contractors Environmental Forum.

Peek also operates a sustainable purchasing policy and has implemented measures to source raw materials from sustainable resources. Examples of implemented plans are:

  • All wood used in the business comes from sustainable FSC forests;
  • All paper used is made from 100% recycled materials; and
  • All cardboard packaging is also made from 100% recycled materials.
